What do you think about the new uniface.info site?
Looks great !! nice refreshed/modern layout ..
Few of the tabs are still refer to the "old" unifaceinfo
The result of that change is that a lot of links are now broken when we make a google search. The site doesn't seem to be fully functional. Let's remind some very important points : Uniface.info was one of the only information sources for Uniface; you must keep it 100% functional, especially now that you launched the long awaited 10.3 version and a lot of customers need information to help them migrating to this version.
Well, this discussion forum is nasty.
The answers are out of order (because of the voting I presume), and when 'in order' the order is backwards.
You can't (easily that I can see) get a list of all the questions which have something you haven't read in them, which is basically what I want to know every time I visit the site, (what's new.... no list of what's new = a waste of my time trying to find new stuff = me getting frustrated and not coming back here.... )
I honestly thought the functionality of the old forum was the lowest common denominator for usefulness, but this one surpasses it for difficulty and unreadability. I'd say it was a triumph of style over substance, except the style is pretty bland.
I've given it a couple of hours of trying to find what I want to see, but am getting to the chuck it out the window stage....
It looks great, and it probably will be great once everything works.
But for now not much works:
PLEASE just make the old unifaceinfo available again, just block the creation of new topics. And in due time do a proper migration of the content to the new site. This value of the Website is in the content, not in how it looks!
This is now fixed! A page tree is added and the comments to the topics are now also visible.
Hopefully you will be able to find all the answers you need now.
Archives now work, thanks!
Now a an overview of all new posts since I last logged in please?
I think I Need new glasses, because I can't read the Things on Homepage in White on Grey!!!
This should be fixed now.
This might be a little too straight / honest - but here goes...
Honestly - if you're going to provide a new service, make sure you
can drag the old history with you when you make the new site available.
There are YEARS of information and knowledge in the old site - and nothing has come across.
The statement - 'this will change in the coming months' - really?
Tools such as DRUPAL can import from almost anything - including CSV and/or TEXT files.
Slurp and burp.. Creation of groups, collaboration, history, tags, it's all there - and it's shareware.
The new site doesn't even display / render on my cellphone.....
IMHO - as it stands right now, honestly - it's useless.
Please, for the sake of actually being a 'development' company, please, test things
before they're released...
Work on this in the background, get the migration process done, and then switch over.
In the mean time - restore the old site with all it's imperfections - and then hit us with the
new improved look and functionality....
3 more points:
Is there a wishlist or not, that's the question
Daten können aufgrund eines unerwarteten Fehlers nicht abgerufen werden.
The JIRA option also errors when you click it so I assume that as its a view of JIRA that the JIRA setup is what is broken (assuming they have migrated the tickets that is).
I cant add screenshots from here but the error is:
Field 'type' does not exist or this field cannot be viewed by anonymous users.
I AM logged in to the web page but may not be logged in to JIRA at that point.
We started with a fresh forum, based on Confluence Questions. The format is so different than the previous one that it made no sense in trying to convert the existing posts into this format.
It is possible to search through the Forum archives from the Forum Archives menu option that can be selected from the Community menu (top left). I will also see if I can transfer some of the open discussions of yesterday to the new site by hand, so the discussion can continue.
I am puzzled about the fact that you had to re-register. There are three levels of authorization: anonymous, registered and maintenance paying customer with increasing access to functionality. For the single sign on, we have started with the maintenance paying customers as were authorized to log calls with us in the previous situation. As far as I know, you are one of them. I will see if I can find out what went wrong and get back to you.
Hi Jan Cees
My account is gone!?!?!I try to login with "istiller", but none of my passwords will work.Try then "forget my password", but no mail at all.Only register a new account will solve the problem.Any idea what's going wrong?Ingo
Thanks Danny. That is correct. The documentation, known issues list and maintenance (patch) information are still tcoming from the old site. This will change in the coming months.
will you add a wishlist section?
by the way finally it is fast
The Wishlist is already available:
And on the right hand side you have a "button" for entering a wish:
Or are you looking for something else?
yes that's it thanks
What is the sortorder of the Postings???
Can't find my post seconds ago!!!
The Tooltips for the Voting doesn't scroll with the page.
It is only working when you are on the very top of the page!
The very first impression is great. New site looks good, is fast (much much faster than the old one).
Wishlist is back! I've just tried and logged my first wish. Well, it's my old wish about regexp in Uniface .
RSS feed seems to work fine. Old forums are here... I'm looking forward to more experience with this new site.
Maybe a privacy issue here... email addresses (and indeed any contact information provided in your profile) is available to any user... and as far as I am aware there is no restriction on registering users.
Just tested the "Reported Issues" with an important malfunction (has noone seen it before ???):
The selection works fine, but when I try to follow the hyperlink,I am mislead into the new homepage so nothing is achieved.
Terrible situation, isn't it?
Reason: the URL https://unifaceinfo.com/fixes/issuelist/31874.php is manipulated leading to nirwana.
Making unifaceinfo.com reachable again would cure this situation as well as the demand for all the old informations contributed by eager customers like me.
Unfortunately NOTHING can compare the total loss of information collected in decades under unifaceinfo.com.One could read the posts in chronological order without thinking about an artificial filter to open the archives.
Today I was surprised with a:
Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Apache/2.4.18 (Ubuntu) Server at unifaceinfo.com Port 80
May I suggest to give the customers back access to the unifaceinfo.com and all the knowhow stored there in the old presentation. It would be enough to have it read-only and I think that compared to the benefit for us customers, it wouldn't cost so much to keep the server alive and runing.
P.S. In the meantime, I have found the way to "reported issues". Wasn't it there before or have I overlooked it? Looks like a lot is under construction.
but on the reported issue catasthrophe, see my next post:
I can query, but I can not drill down to the different issue details.
Looks like noone had even performed this simple test before giving it to the public.
and do you really have to show the watermarkEVALUATION LICENSE Are you enjoying Theme Press? Please consider purchasing it today.
Looks nice but it seems there is a lot that is not working...eg.
- under Knowlege / Uniface there are 7 entries but only 3 go anywhere...
- Images in Blog posts are missing.
- I have a Tasks option under my profile (This is a confluence collaboration thing), presumably you wouldnt particularly want to give these sorts or permissions to external users.
- I just copied this comment from notepad to the comment box and if removed most of the carriage returns.
The forum archives would probably be the most useful resource but at the moment its just a tag list which is pretty much useless and a search which doesn't seem to work (find a post copy a word from it into the search and it finds nothing)... Hell even typing Uniface into the search finds nothing.
Also having checked a couple of dozen posts none of them seem to have replies which I would expect some to have.
For anyone else disappointed with this the old forums are up at https://old.uniface.info however the hyperlinks link to unifaceinfo.com so you need to replace in the address every time you click with old.uniface.info. I am not sure how to get the search working at that point.
To be frank for software and database specialists who sell a product for writing web pages I would have expected that:
A you would write your own webpage and
B you would be able to do a better job of conversion and have all of the forum archive included as posts in the new system.
I believe that Confluence has an API that you could call parsing the old content directly into the database even if you had to write something (in Uniface) to do the grunt work.
Wel even zoeken naar waar de info nu staat. Maar het is zeker een verbetering.
Hi Jan CeesWith the new account, I didn't see anything in forumAll topics saying "0 questions" (as I'm using german: "0 Fragen")There is something going totaly wrong Ingo
Hi Dirk Jan,
Thanks. We are indeed still working on the proper redirection of the URLs. www.uniface.info works best at the moment. All the other addresses that were in use will point to the new site soon.
Ziet er goed uit Jan Cees ! Is de site nu al helemaal active ? Kom nog vaak nog op de oude site uit .
